FS Design Studio ("we", "us", "our") is an architectural design studio run by Fernanda Smith, Architectural Designer, based in Sawtell, NSW. We respect your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and how we look after it.

We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) as our standard for handling personal information.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry

Our enquiry form asks for:

  • your name, email address and message (required)
  • your phone number and the type of project (optional)
  • any file you choose to attach, such as plans or photos (optional, up to 8 MB)

Please only attach files you are happy for us to see. If a file includes other people's details, make sure they are comfortable with you sharing it.

When you contact us directly

If you email or call us, we collect the details you choose to give us, such as your name, contact details and information about your project.

When you visit the site

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when pages are requested, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of the visit. This is used to run and secure the site. We do not use it to identify you.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • reply to your enquiry
  • prepare a fee proposal or quote
  • provide our design services if you engage us
  • keep business records, such as for tax purposes

We do not sell your information. We do not add you to a mailing list or send you marketing.

Who we share it with

We only share your information:

  • with service providers who help us run this website and our business, as described below
  • with your consent
  • where the law requires or allows it

Our website and enquiry form are hosted by Netlify, Inc. Form submissions, including any attached file, are stored by Netlify and sent to us by email. Netlify also applies automated spam filtering to form submissions. Our email provider stores the messages we send and receive.

Information stored outside Australia

Netlify stores data on servers that may be located outside Australia, including in the United States. Our other service providers may also store data overseas. By sending us an enquiry, you understand that your information may be stored and processed outside Australia. We choose established providers that have their own privacy and security commitments.

Cookies and analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused service that counts visits without cookies or tracking you across sites. This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not use tracking pixels. Our fonts are hosted on our own site, so loading a page does not send requests to font services such as Google Fonts.

Google reviews

Our home page shows reviews from Google Maps. Our website fetches these reviews from Google, including each reviewer's public name and profile photo. When you view the reviews, your browser loads the reviewer photos directly from Google's servers, which means Google may receive technical information such as your IP address. Links in the reviews section take you to Google. Google's use of information is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

Links to other websites

This site links to our Instagram, Facebook and Google pages. Once you leave our site, that website's own privacy policy applies.

Keeping your information secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. This site is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only for as long as we need it to respond to you, provide our services and meet our legal and record-keeping obligations, such as tax and business records. After that, we delete it or securely dispose of it.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email us at fernanda@fsdesignstudio.com.au. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. If we cannot do what you ask, we will explain why.

Making a complaint

If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us first at fernanda@fsdesignstudio.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Children

Our services are for adults. This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
